Capturing the unexpected

Stephanie and random tree near San Francisco's Golden Gate ParkWalking back from a nice dessert (which had followed an enjoyable lengthy lunch and much good dancing outdoors), I was jokingly trying to take a photo of my friend Stephanie without looking... walking in front of her, and taking the photo from behind my back. As you can see, I did catch a bit of Stephanie in the photo, but also unexpectedly captured some of the trees which I walked past weekly and never noticed.

Strange how it sometimes takes a bit of randomness to highlight what we should already be seeing and appreciating.

Why, oh why, please tell me why!

Velveeta.

I received a (large) free sample of this... stuff, and after it sat in my cupboard for about six weeks, I decided it was time to be brave. It was a time for action.

Swing dance, go to jail

Water-swilling swing dancers... threat to a moral and orderly society. They Must Be Stopped!

Or so goes the thinking of some pretty aggressive Salt Lake City law enforcement officials, as noticed by this (verified) forward:

On selfishness, obsolescence, and jubilant consumers

Several organizations are throwing up (their arms) in wild fear of their job sectors going the way of the dodo.

For instance, unless you've been living in a cave for the last few months, you probably already know about the new federal program which will block around 80% of telemarketing calls for those who sign up on the free national Do Not Call list.

The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) is livid. They cry that their revenues will plummet... and -- surprise! -- they plan to sue the government.
